The End of You: The Biblical Reason for Why You are Incarcerated

The fruit of our actions are easy to see, but the roots often remain unnoticed, and in this short book, Ruben explains why.

Unfolded in elementary fashion, The End of You describes why crime is committed and what inmates can do to truly find answers for their troubled soul. At the core of who we are, each of us craves power and control, yet as escaping as sand may be in a clinched fist, so, too, is our desire to secure our lot in life when done so apart from our Creator.

Written from 18 years of personal experience in TDCJ, this book serves as a personal letter from Ruben to those who find themselves in the throes of jail or prison, battling hopelessness and confusion. It is a clarion call regarding the universal quest for comfort and ease and the inevitable desire to avoid the least path of resistance when encountering dark times. This book reminds us we all do bad things to cope with the harsh realities of life.

Inmates just got caught.

Reclaiming the Holiness of Matrimony

In Reclaiming the Holiness of Matrimony, Ruben uncovers how the pursuit of “life, liberty, and happiness,” combined with a civil rights mania has driven our society into a litigation frenzy, creating almost any offense into a case number on the Court’s docket. As a result, marriage is now redefined to mean whatever anybody wants.

Ruben contends this has opened a Pandora’s Box, and now intimate acts with animals and little children are currently being considered legal in some countries.  These kinds of unthinkable behaviors are gaining a greater foothold in American society, because, contrary to popular belief, the United States of America was not conceived in the bosom of Scripture, but in the womb of Western philosophy.

Shackling Jesus: How Christians in Prison Institutionalize God

Jailhouse religion is perhaps the most common form of escape men and women embrace when serving time in a correctional facility.  Some of them encounter a genuine experience, and their lives are changed forever.  Others, however, become slicker criminals.

In Shackling Jesus, Ruben uncovers exactly why this happens.  After serving 18 years in prison, he learned a great deal about the sociological effects of imprisonment and how they can blind those who seek an encounter with the living God.  Not all are blinded, though.  Only those who conform to the subculture of prison and those who refuse to allow Scripture to rule their lives.

From discussing civil death to predatory behavior, he spares little detail, leaving readers with a keen sense of what can happen when Christians behind the razor wire substitute the Bible for a code of prison conduct.
